Circularity
We’re rethinking everything we make, from pouch to straw, to make sure it’s better for the planet and people equally. And since circularity is the name of the game, we’re pushing for smarter materials, simpler recycling, and fewer emissions. Discover more about our best pouch ever and how we're reducing our overall environmental impact.
Our best pouch ever
Alongside our popular 200ml pouch—which is currently being gradually converted across Europe to mono-material—our 330ml pouch is already fully recyclable, and of course just as delicious as ever.
Whether 200ml or 330ml: our drink pouches are super lightweight and use up to 80% less material than a PET bottle. They also generate significantly lower CO₂ emissions during production (Life Cycle Analysis Study 2022, ifeu Institute). Smart packaging—without compromising on taste or fun!

The Story of Our Pouch
Our Paper Straw
Why we no longer use
plastic straws
We know the paper straw isn’t everyone’s favourite – and honestly, we get it. But the reason we use it is simple: EU rules (the so-called Single Use Plastic Directive, SUPD) no longer allow plastic straws.
Since switching to paper in 2021, we’ve been working hard to make it better - step by step and based on your feedback. Stronger, easier to use, and more sip-friendly – we’re on it!
What many don’t know
The paper straw actually reduces the recyclability of our monomaterial pouch by around 15%, because paper contaminates the recycling stream. That’s why we’re actively advocating for an update of the SUPD regulation.
We believe that plastic straws, which stay with the pouch and are recycled together with it, should be treated differently from loose, single-use straws. After all, would you put a paper cap on a plastic bottle? Exactly. The paper straw just isn´t the perfect match for our pouch.

We believe it’s important to be transparent about the facts and the trade-offs behind packaging decisions. That’s why we have shared our perspective with the European Commission as part of the review of the Single Use Plastics Directive.

Our path to more recyclable packaging
Capri-Sun is striving to have the majority of its packaging recyclable within a circular economy framework. Our new fully recyclable pouch is an important step in that direction.
To make recycling easy, we provide simple instructions on our packaging and share helpful information here on our website. We’re also improving our materials: Today, our fully recyclable cardboard boxes already use 80% recycled paper.
We know there is more to do—and we’re committed to continuing this journey, step by step.
Reducing our
Environmental Impact
We’re working towards leaving less behind—in packaging, emissions, and waste.
According to a life cycle assessment (ifeu institute), monomaterial pouches have the lowest climate change impact from fossil fuels all standard beverage containers.
Lighter Packaging = Lower Emissions
- Lightweight → Uses less material
- Recyclable → Designed to reduce environmental impact across the lifecycle
- Efficient to transport → More beverage than packaging on the truck compared to other beverage packaging
Our Climate Actions
At Capri-Sun, we not only love great tasting drinks, but also clever ideas for saving energy:
Local production: we are investing in manufacturing closer to our markets to cut transport emissions.
We have obtained ISO 50001 certification in Germany: a proof of ensuring continuous improvements in energy management and efficiency. Various optimization measures have already enabled a total of over 700,000 kWh of electricity saved. This corresponds to the energy equivalent of a small village with 200 households—a clear step toward greater sustainability and efficiency.
