Privacy policy

We’re delighted to be able to welcome you to the Capri-Sonne website for Germany (hereafter referred to as the ‘Capri-Sonne website’). Protecting your personal data is a very important issue to us. The following is an explanation of which general and personal information we collect for the purpose of operating the Capri-Sonne website and how we process and use this information.

NB: The links to external websites that appear in this Privacy Policy were still valid the last time they were reviewed. We make every effort to keep these links up to date. However, because we are not able to review these links at all times, we cannot assume any liability in terms of links being correct and up to date.

1.General use of your information

1.1. We strictly observe the relevant privacy laws.

1.2.We do not collect and save any of your personal information when you visit the Capri-Sonne website. This only occurs when we have explicitly asked you for your personal information in advance. For instance, when you take part in a competition, we ask you for your name and address, so that we can contact you if you win. The Capri-Sonne Fun World section of the Capri-Sonne website is a personal section requiring registration and the saving of certain personal information. You can find more information below under clause 2 of this Privacy Policy.

1.3. Otherwise, during your visit to the Capri-Sonne website our server only saves anonymous technical data that is generally collected when accessing websites: the name of your Internet browser, the name of your Internet service provider, the IP address with which your computer accesses the Internet, the name of your operating system, details about which of our websites you visit, and the date and length of time of your visit. This data is saved temporarily in protocol files and then deleted automatically. This information is saved so that, should a problem arise, the activities that may have potentially led to the error can be analysed.

2.Cookies used by our Web server

2.1.Our Web server uses cookies, which are small text files that are stored on your computer, provided the settings of your Internet browser allow for this. Cookies are a very common technology used by many websites and, as text files, cannot cause any damage to your computer.

2.2.Our Web server uses the following cookies:

2.2.1. At the beginning of your visit to the Capri-Sonne website, our Web server stores a cookie on your computer to distinguish your accessing of the website from the simultaneous access of other users. These cookies are automatically deleted once you close your Internet browser.

2.2.2. If you have registered for Capri-Sonne Fun World and log into the site, our Web server stores another cookie on your computer so that it can recognise you and show you personalised Fun World pages. Once you close your Internet browser, this cookie is automatically deleted.
2.2.3. If you enter information in a window on the Capri-Sonne website, our Web server may store another cookie on your computer, so that this window is not showed to you again the next time you visit the site. This type of cookie also deletes itself after a certain period of time.

2.3. Most Internet browsers already have the settings for cookies enabled.

2.4. If you would like to prevent our Web server from storing cookies on your computer, you can deactivate the cookies settings of your Internet browser

But please bear in mind that, if you deactivate the cookies in your Internet browser, you may not be able to access all the pages of the Capri-Sonne website or you may experience feature malfunctions.

3.Links to social networks

3.1.Some pages of the Capri-Sonne website occasionally contain special programs (plug-ins) that can create a connection to social networks such as Facebook, Google+ and Twitter. Each of these plug-ins takes the form of a button featuring a logo that refers to the social network in question.

3.2.These plug-ins will not activate until clicked on, at which point you will notice a change in the appearance of the plug-in. Once activated, the plug-ins collect, process and use information as follows:

3.2.1. Once you have activated a plug-in, it briefly connects your Internet browser with the server of the social network in question and the content of the plug-in is transmitted from there to your Internet browser.
The social network operator is provided with your IP address in the process. In certain cases, the social network operator also stores a cookie on your computer, which is then deleted when you close your Internet browser. You can block these cookies as described in clause 2.4; however, this can lead to the malfunctions mentioned in clause 3.4 when you visit the Capri-Sonne website.

If you’re currently logged in to the social network whose plug-in you have activated on one of the pages of the Capri-Sonne website, any information about your visit to the Capri-Sonne website can be linked to your user account with the social network in question and saved, processed and used by the social network operator.
If you use a plug-in, for instance by clicking on the plug-in button again after it’s already been activated or by sending a text via the plug-in, the corresponding information will be sent from your Internet browser to the social network operator in question, which will then save it.
If you have a user account with a social network and want to activate the associated plug-in without allowing information about your visit to the Capri-Sonne website to be linked to your user account with the social network in question, you need to sign out of the social network before activating the plug-in.
3.2.2.The following applies to the Facebook plug-ins: in some areas, our website uses plug-ins associated with the social network facebook.com in the form of the Like button. These plug-ins are provided and operated by Facebook Inc., 1601 S. California Ave, Palo Alto, CA 94304, USA (hereafter referred to as ‘Facebook’), and feature a Facebook logo such as the white ‘f’ in a blue box.
To find out which information is transmitted to Facebook when using the Facebook plug-ins, simply go to www.facebook.com/help/. You can also go to www.facebook.com/about/privacy/ to find out how Facebook processes and uses the personal information you share as a user of facebook.com and to what degree you can limit publication of said information

These plug-ins are provided and operated by Google Inc., 1600 Amphitheatre Parkway, Mountain View, CA 94043, USA (hereafter referred to as ‘Google’). The Google +1 button features the ‘+1’ in cursive below four colours.

These plug-ins feature a Twitter logo. You can find an overview of the Twitter logos at twitter.com/about/resources/logos.
You can go to twitter.com/privacy to find out how Twitter processes and uses the personal information you share as a user of Twitter and to what degree you can limit publication of said information.

4.1.The Capri-Sonne website uses Google Analytics, a Web analytics service of Google Inc., 1600 Amphitheatre Parkway, Mountain View, CA 94043, USA (hereafter referred to as ‘Google’).
4.2. Google Analytics stores a permanent cookie on your computer, provided the settings of your Internet browser authorise this. This permanent cookie can be read again during your next visit to the Capri-Sonne website. To prevent this, you can delete the permanent cookie in the settings of your Internet browser following your visit to the Capri-Sonne website. The Google Analytics cookie facilitates analysis of how you use the Capri-Sonne website.
4.3. Collected by the cookie mentioned in clause 5.2, the information about how you use the Capri-Sonne website is usually transmitted to a Google server in the US and saved there. To protect your privacy, Google shortens your IP address before it’s transmitted inside the European Union or in other countries which are contracting parties to the Agreement on the European Economic Area. Your full IP address is only transmitted to a Google server in the US and saved there in exceptional cases
4.4. Google Analytics collects information about how you use the Capri-Sonne website and transmits it to Google, who on our instructions uses this information in order to evaluate the way in which you use the Capri-Sonne website, draw up reports about activities on the Capri-Sonne website, and provide us with services associated with the use of the Capri-Sonne website and the Internet. The IP address that Google Analytics transmits from your Internet browser is not combined with other Google data
4.5. If you disagree with the Google Analytics processes and functions described in clauses 5.3 and 5.4, you can prevent the cookies mentioned in clause 5.2 from being stored on your computer as described in clause 3.4. However, this can lead to the malfunctions mentioned in clause 2.4 when you visit the Capri-Sonne website
As an alternative to deactivating and deleting cookies, you can also download and install the Google Analytics opt-out browser add-on to deactivate Google Analytics. This add on is available at tools.google.com/dlpage/gaoptout and prevents information about your Internet use from being transmitted to Google Analytics. The add-on is available for the following Internet browsers: Microsoft Internet Explorer, Google Chrome, Mozilla Firefox, Apple Safari and Opera. 5.Email newsletter
5.1.You can subscribe to the email newsletter on the Capri-Sonne website. We will, however, only send the email newsletter to your email address once we have your express consent in advance.
You provide us with this consent, which can be withdrawn at any time, when you enter your email address into the newsletter subscription field and confirm the following text by activating a click box.
‘Yes, I would like to receive the Capri-Sonne newsletter by email so that I can keep up to date on the latest news and promotions at capri-sonne.de. I can cancel my subscription to the Capri-Sonne newsletter at any time by activating the unsubscribe link inside the newsletter.’
5.2. When it comes to subscribing to the email newsletter, we use a double opt-in procedure to protect you from others subscribing to the email newsletter using your email address. That means that, when you subscribe to the email newsletter, you receive an email requesting you to confirm your subscription again. Your newsletter subscription only becomes active after this second form of confirmation.
5.3. You can cancel your subscription to the email newsletter at any time and thus withdraw your consent for receiving the newsletter. To do so, please use the corresponding unsubscribe link inside the email newsletter
5.4. Our email newsletter may contain tracking pixels, also referred to as clear GIFs and Web beacons. These are invisible, individual pixels embedded in the email newsletter. If the newsletter recipient’s email program allows graphics to be loaded, we can use these tracking pixels to evaluate how many of our newsletter emails have reached the recipient. We only use this anonymous data for the purpose of statistics. This data is in no way connected to you. Not even your IP address is transmitted to us during the process.
You can prevent the tracking pixels from activating by adjusting the settings of your email program to prevent graphics from loading. However, this may result in only partial display of our email newsletter.
5.5. We also compile statistics on how often the recipients of our email newsletter click on the links inside the email newsletter. This process is also anonymous and the data is not connected to the recipient of our email newsletter. Not even your IP address is transmitted to us during this process.
